Christian hate machine churns on

The following article is currently being sent around evangelical Christian email lists. I wanted to post it to demonstrate the mindset behind what truly is the biggest threat facing America, corporate fascism empowered by fundamentalist mythologies and end-time paranoia. This woman speaks for around a third of the country, the same 30-something percent who still give the criminal George Bush Administration favorable marks.
To those who subscribe to this line of thinking, they don't see that they are being manipulated through their fears and prejudices by a leadership bent on world domination through corporate profiteering and perpetual warfare. Read what it says, and feel it. Note who everything is in absolutes. Nothing good can come from Islam, and no American soldier can do wrong. The first rule of radical fundamentalism is that you do not question the dogma, no matter how silly it looks when placed under the light of even a little logic.

Certain politicians are not in touch with reality. The thing that is important to remember is the fact that most of them have an IQ that is below average. They would be complete failures at anything that didn't depend on ham-acting and a gift of gab.
Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it. This is one ticked-off true American lady. "Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day; in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol, and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't. I don't care at all. I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia. I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave Marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I DON'T CARE. When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, rest assured - I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled', you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. And, oh - by the way - I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran'. Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you-guessed-it: I don't care!! If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the 'delete' button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country. And, may I add a quote, 'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don't have that problem'.......Ronald Reagan. I have another quote I would like to add and I hope you will forward all of it; 'If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under', also by Ronald Reagan. One last thought for the day: In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's former Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his members why he believes so much in America, he said: 'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in --- and how many want out.' "
"Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: (1) Jesus Christ; (2) The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON BECAUSE MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM."

Did you notice the absolutes? The mean-spirited hate, not even really trying to disguise itself anymore? The quotes from the political prophet of the movement, Ronald Reagan? Although there were problems in the Middle East long before Reagan, he spurred on the current crises through the same kind of dominion theology that powers the Christian right today. The type of person who would write this(or subscribe to it) has nothing to do with what America is supposed to be. The only freedom they want is for others to be like them. Not only do they accept the idea of torture, they derive pleasure from the very idea. They hold any belief system that isn't their twisted faith as evil and in need of "cleansing." They came very close to establishing the "permanent one-party rule" they have sought after since 1980. If not for the occupation in Iraq going so badly, they may have well succeeded. But we are far from safe. They are mobilizing and can be expected to be very influential in the 2008 electons. Anyone who doesn't want to see America descend further into an empire existing for the profits of the few at the expense of the many, needs to fight them. Remember, around 30 percent of Americans feel this way. And if they all vote as a block, they can be a majority when turnout is low,.
This writer closes with the rant about Christ and the American G.I. being the only ones who will sacrifice. I acknowledge the service of the military people of the past. As for Christ dying for me, I will borrow from the writer of the email. I don't care.

A good short definition is that followers are required by god to hold "dominion" over everything. It is the basis of the very large movement in the United States who wish to have America declared "a christian nation" even going so far as to want to change the constitution. People like D. James Kennedy, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, etc...have all espoused various forms of this line of thinking. Many followers keep their true feelings under wraps, knowing the reaction they would bring if more people knew.
Still, they are coming "out of the closet" more and more. Pat Roberston wrote a book calles "Secret Kingdom" in which he put out what he thinks - on a sidenote, there are at least 150 graduates of his psuedo law school in the Bush Admin. D. James Kennedy holds conferences called "reclaiming America for Christ" in which he speaks more like someone hoping (and pushig for) a theocratic dictatorship type of gvernment. And it's not just the U.S. these zealots want to rule.
The most prevalent form of Christian Dominionism is called Christian Reconstructionism. Its main proponent is Rousas John Rushdoony, states "The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the word of God and by bringing all things under the dominion of Christ the King."
They use alot of code-speak, but they all share the same vision, A Christian empire, battling against Islam and Secularism.
