Ground Hog Day, politcs style!
February 2nd 2008 05:45
For our purposes, let us imagine the groundhog to be the American voter....
Dateline, Feb. 2nd...The venerable groundhog, long known as a prognosticator for the weather and the end of winter, was looked upon for political predictions, and the morning did prove interesting, indeed!
The anticipation was thick enough to cut....what would the groundhog do, which candidate would he favor for president? And how would the information be interpreted? It was the first time the little rodent was being called upon to pick a president, after all. How did it go down?
The groundhog slipped out of his hole, and the entire scene was dark. The shadow of the failed presidency of George Bush and the criminal nature of the neo-con agenda cast their long, dark fingers over the land. Fear and hate-mongering were buttressed by religious fanatics eager to push larger war on the world to satiate their lustful desires for their dreamed about "end times." It was a dark day indeed when the groundhog emerged.
But alas, he did not run from the shadow of fear and the dark hues of neo-conservative idiocy. Our brave groundhog stood strong, looking for a way to emerge from the darkness. He saw a light shining at him. It was a light of hope and happiness, of less war and more socially responsible leadership. It was different from anything the groundhog had seen before in the presidential realm. He saw a man of color, and a woman of strength. He saw thousands of people rising up to support the light he saw tearing at the shadows. He imagined an America not looked upon as a danger to peace around the world.
Our furry hero stood up and said "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!" He added "no more incompetent leadership! No more crony capitalism dominating America! No more complete failures when it comes to responding to disasters! No more hate-mongering against immigrants and those not of the favored faith! The groundhog stopped in his tracks and looked. A smile came over his face, and he stepped briskly out of the shadow of the past seven years and into the light of what was new and rising. He didn't know of all the problems created by years of idiocy could be fixed anytime soon. But he knew that at least there were some willing to try.....
Well done, our brave little furball!
