JUNE 3rd -Reports are that Hillary Clinton will officially step out of the presidential race this coming Friday. After a post -election speech in which she didn't concede and a day of pressure from Democratic leadership, Hillary Clinton has decided that she will indeed step out of the race and endorse Barack Obama on Friday.
In that speech Hillary Clinton asked to hear from her supporters as to what she should do. Well, they spoke up. Even ardent supporters like Charlie Rangle told her it was time to end it. A wave of Super Delegates coming out in support of Senator Obama also delivered the same message. She agreed, and will give a speech on Friday conceding. Details as to time and place are yet to be determined.
The Obama campaign wanted to give Hillary Clinton some space and not flaunt the victory after the nomination was effectively clinched by Senator Obama. It is important that
She gave a speech today in front the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in which she gave out high praise for Barack Obama and sought to reassure the crowd that Senator Obama will be a strong supporter of Israel. She may be hoping for a vice-presidential spot on the ticket, or something else of import. She may be working toward smoothing over the rough patches from a campaign stained by her and her husband's rhetoric.
The announcement will go a great way to bringing the Democratic Party together and begin the march to November and the task of delivering a humiliating defeat to John McCain and the conservative movement.

Has to be a humiliating defeat.
Hard to believe that the real race is just beginning now. I feel like the whole world deserves a holiday.

As for the defeat, yes I do think it has to be a smackdown. If it's just close the neo-conservative movement will still retain some sheen of legitimacy, however reduced it may be. The movement needs to be completely discredited.
