Oscar predictions...
February 24th 2008 21:05
I wasn't going to put my predictions in print this year, mostly because I haven't seen most of the films (a baby under a year old can do that to ya) but here goes...
Supporting Actor.....Javier Bardem, "No Country for Old Men" the second closest thing to a "sure thing" this year.
Supporting Actress...Amy Ryan, "Gone Baby Gone" a flawless and natural performance.
Lead Actress....Julie Christie, "Away from Her" will edge out Marion Cotillard's "La Vie en Rose" and Ellen Page in "Juno."
Lead Actor...Daniel Day-Lewis, "There Will Be Blood" A lock if there ever was one.
Best Screenplay, original...Diablo Cody, "Juno" That's counting on a snub of Michael Clayton not winning in any of the big categories, but I think George Clooney got it right when he made a comparison to politics, saying that if not for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton would be having a great year.
Best Screenplay adapted..Them crazy Coen brothers, "No Country for Old Men." Funny, I think they will get this one, but not the directing.
Directing...My long shot call is Jason Reitman for "Juno."
Best Picture..."There Will Be Blood" although the ending tripped out alot of people, I think it just might take the big prize over the favored "No Country For Old Men."
Sure, I'm out on a limb on a couple of these and taking the locks twice.....so we will see. Either marvel at my powers after the show or laugh at me for being so wrong!
